Welcome to VANBAGBAN.CA. This site is intended to empower and enable residents and visitors to voice support for phasing out disposable plastic bags in the City of Vancouver, British Columbia.

THE WAY IT IS - Carried by the wind, disposable plastic bags float out of waste bins, garbage trucks and landfills, and into our environment. They get caught in trees and fences, wash up on our beaches and are ingested by wildlife and farm animals. They clog our drainage systems, causing flooding and backups. Floating in our rivers, lakes and oceans, disposable plastic bags affect all of Vancouver and its surroundings, while leaving a deadly, toxic legacy in our food chain.

THE WAY IT COULD BE - Envision a Vancouver without disposable plastic bags; its natural beauty untainted by their unsightly presence, its inhabitants and animals free of the deadly toxic troubles they create, the City’s ecosystems flourishing and Vancouver’s claims to be one of the Greenest Cities backed up by political action. The possible number of positive outcomes is huge, all determined by the will of the City’s community members – you, who hold the most powerful voice.
